DIRECTIONS
Not everyone has SatNav (and even those that have can find themselves ‘lost’ when they get on to the Isle of Purbeck) but the pub is quite easy to discover once you headed in the right direction. There is a big Natural Trust Pay-&-Display car park on the right just before you reach the pub.
From Sandbanks Ferry
The Sandbanks Ferry is well signposted once you get to Bournemouth and Poole; the Sat Nav is postcode: BH13 7QN. Ferry fees are paid at the toll booth once you have driven off the ferry on the Studland side; card payments are accepted. Please not that the ferry only runs between 7.00am and 11.00pm. The ferry also undergoes refurbishment for two weeks in October; it can also be very busy during the warmer months and on sunny weekends.
From the ferry toll booth proceed straight along Ferry Road (B3351) for three miles. When you reach Studland Village, turn left onto Beach Road (sign posted for Middle Beach & South Beach) then immediately right on to Rectory Lane (signposted to South Beach). Follow the winding lane for about 150 metres until the T-junction then turn right on to Manor Road. The Bankes Arms is on your right about 150 metres down.
From Swanage
From the north of the town take Ulwell Road, following the signs to Studland and the Ferry. At the top of the hill there is a T-junction; turn right on to the B3551 towards Studland. In 500 metres, as you drive through Studland Village, turn right on to Beach Road (sign posted for Middle Beach & South Beach) then immediately right on to Rectory Lane (signposted to South Beach). Follow the winding lane for about 150 metres until the T-junction then turn right on to Manor Road. The Bankes Arms is on your right about 150 metres down.
From Wareham & Corfe Castle
If you are coming from the west or driving around Poole Harbour (rather than using the ferry), head to Wareham, the ‘Gateway to the Isle of Purbeck’. From Wareham, take the A351 to Swanage and Corfe Castle. Stay on the A351 for about 4.5 miles until you reach Corfe Castle. Drive past the castle’s main car park (on your left) and take the B3551 immediately on your left (signposted to Studland and Toll Ferry).
Follow the B3551 for about five miles until you reach Studland Village. Turn right on to Beach Road (sign posted for Middle Beach & South Beach) then immediately right on to Rectory Lane (signposted to South Beach). Follow the winding lane for about 150 metres until the T-junction then turn right on to Manor Road. The Bankes Arms is on your right about 150 metres down.
